A co-creation together with Felipe Amorim (Brazil), took the form of Música das Palavras – The Music of Words (2014), a composition for two electroacoustic flutes, in which the acoustic flute-playing is mixed with electroacoustic processing, sound spatialisation and video projection. The Music of Words explores subtle transformations of the air streams inside the flute’s tube and inside the flutist’s oral cavity, creating a constant kaleidoscopic movement of air sounds shaped through unvoiced consonants, vowels and plosive sounds. It resulted in a transformation of the interior space of the flute’s tube and the flutist’s mouth; from an intimate, delicate, solitary space, it became the space of an agitated, loud crowd.
